Topological optimization of Bare Engine goals

2025-07-23

With the increasing severity of energy problems, from the perspective of reducing fuel consumption, cars need to develop into light vehicles, among which Bare Engine and light vehicles have become an issue that cannot be ignored in the development of automobiles.
Reliable ISF 2.8 Engine for Cummins
Considering the lightweight of Cummins Engine, its main components must be optimized to reduce volume and mass.
As one of the more complex components in Bare Engine, the light weight and high strength of the connecting rod have become a breakthrough goal in the design of Bare Engine.
1. Modeling
Since Bare Engine are symmetrical structures, this report uses a 1/2 model to analyze the force of the connecting rod and optimize its structure.
2.Hypermesh meshing
The model is cut into hexahedral meshes, of which the green part is the optimized part.
3. Force analysis
First, generate REB in the blue area of the model as a constraint and stress point; then, apply constraints and stress on the model.
Apply Y-direction constraints on the upper surface of the red part of the connecting rod, apply constraints and stress REB on the large head, and apply fixed constraints REB on the small head to apply force.
