Development trend of Bare Engine

2025-05-12

Compared with forged steel connecting rods, the weight of titanium alloy connecting rods is significantly reduced, so the reciprocating inertia force of the connecting rod will be greatly reduced during the piston movement stage of Bare Engine.

When companies test the speed of Bare Engine with different properties, they will observe the small oil film thickness of the connecting rod on the crankshaft.
According to the measurement results, it can be found that when the oil film thickness of titanium alloy connecting rods and steel connecting rods is basically the same, the speed of titanium alloy connecting rods is obviously much higher than that of forged steel connecting rods, so the overall transmission frequency of Bare Engine will also increase.
Practical research shows that titanium alloy connecting rods can also control the noise during the operation of Bare Engine, but this is a common problem.
At present, the main development trend of Mitsubishi Engine materials is to use lightweight metal-based composite materials. Compared with other connecting rod materials, metal-based composite materials have great advantages in strength and quality.
At this stage, the specific cost issues of the manufacturing process of metal-based composite connecting rods should be focused on.
The performance of the connecting rod structure is mainly achieved by using low-friction processing technology, such as high hardness of the connecting rod head holes, and using rolling bearings instead of sliding bearings of existing bushings.
The connecting rod hole is processed into a waist drum shape, which allows line contact under low load and surface contact under high load, thus reducing friction during operation.
